Orthotics can be defined as a brace to prop up the structure of the human body. Irrespective of cultural difference, the fact is all people suffer pain on the upright joint region such as foot, leg and hip, etc, since the foot's malformed shape, namely, pes planus, elaw foot (tiptoe walking/high arch foot) and hallux valgus, etc, gets the foot arch deformed, and the foot orthotics was originated from having rendered help to remove pain on the upright joint correcting the foot's malformed shape by applying thermal resin in 1960. When look at our human body structure, the vertebra, namely, all of coccyx, sacrum, lumbar vertebra, thoracic vertebra and cervical vertebra maintain balance based on a foot. When the base (foot) is stabilized, even if the human body moves, the contact point of the upside become steady, and if the base is in an imperfect state, the joint of each region is not stabilized upon movement so it can get damaged easily. Since our human body is an airtight class, each upright joint, namely, every of ankle, knee, pelvis, thoracic vertebra and cervical vertebra is the spot on which the weight is put. Therefore if the foot is not stabilized, load is given to each connecting region and this leads to wrong muscular formation with impact so feel a pain on this region accordingly.

That's why necessity of foot orthotics is pressing to stabilize the foot as mentioned above.
Since foot is the base of the body, if the foot collapses, the human body is necessarily supposed to collapse. From when man lives in a hard floor, the foot has begun to receive stress. Furthermore as the weight of man gains too, the pressure that the foot used to take was increased to the unimaginable extent compared with the pressure on the foot we used to walk on the ground of a rural district so the ARCH of foot, which scatters and absorb our body weight, has begun to collapse.

Orthotics is an instrument that supports the arch of foot so gives help to keep balance of the human body.
